I complete the pastel portraits using high quality pastel pencils on Pastelmat which is an acid free pastel specific paper designed to keep your portrait in perfect condition. I like to use a coloured paper as think this makes the pastels really stand out however I can complete them with or without a background of pastel onto depending on what finish you would like.
